Who doesn’t love stars? I remember when I moved from a big city to a smaller town and I got so excited when I could finally see the heavens again! These earrings remind me of that time, with their glints of gold and gemstones that look like stars.
These earrings are crafted from metal clay with a metal stamp that features a star burst. The star bursts are pure silver and then overlaid in 23kt gold leaf. I have darkened the piece in order to make the details stand out. The posts are sterling silver and close with a butterfly push back.
Herkimer diamonds dangle from these lovely mixed metal stars and glint in the light as they move. Herkimer diamonds are not diamonds, but actually quartz with a termination (pointy bit) on both ends. These imperfect stones are among my favorites and they do have slight inclusions of black carbon in them, which is a testament to the thousands of years they spent developing in the earth and sat waiting to be discovered.
