The ancient Egyptians believed that scarab beetles represented renewal and rebirth and were a popular talisman of the time. I think they are beautiful, so I decided to incorporate them into my jewelry.
This pendant is a mixture of precious metal clay and silversmithing. The scarab beetle is crafted from metal clay so it is pure silver. Hanging from this little beetle is a cream-colored spike-shaped dendritic opal that is set in sterling silver. The entire piece has been darkened (oxidized) by hand.
This unique pendant hangs from an 18" oxidized paperclip style chain and closes with a spring ring clasp.
