Optical Lens Necklace

I came across this vintage opticians lens years ago and have been holding on to it until I could find the perfect setting.

I believe this glass was part of a box of lenses that opticians would use to test their clients eyesight. This particular piece has the number 55 hand engraved into the glass on the top and the 72 on the bottom and is set in some sort of gold plated metal. The gold plate has worn off in a number of places which only adds to its vintage charm.

I have drilled a hole in order to be able to hang this pendant straight. It dangles from a dainty gold filled chain in the ‘Y’ style, so the chain around your neck stops right at the hollow of your throat and a single chain hangs straight down ending in this gorgeous little eyeglass.

So unique, so versatile.
